Chivitos al la Plata - Bon Appetit.
Maldonado City:
The city of San Fernando de Maldonado, capital of the department that boasts the country's major resorts, its 130 kilometres from Montevideo and typical of the cities in Uruguay's interior. It was founded in 1755 on the Laguna del Diario and two years later moved to its present location. On its narrow streets the houses are mainly low, one and two storeys, while its main square (San Fernando) is the centre of its social life. On this square stands Maldonado Cathedral - one of the oldest Catholic churches in the country - as well as the Police Headquarters, the Marco de los Reyes boundary stone and Cuartel de Dragones (Dragoons Barracks) which together with the Torre del Vigia (or Watchtower) make up the most historically valuable buildings in the city.

Kate at Playa Brava late at night.
Brava Beach:
Under the generic name of Playa Brava is the chain of ocean beaches that originate in front of the Paseo de las Américas and end at the mouth of the Maldonado stream. A group of sculptures are situated here and the most famous sculpture is ´´La Mano´´ (the Hand) by the Chilean sculptor Mario Irrazábal who lost his brother to the sea. The last sign of life from the brother was a wawing hand.
